Certification
One live assessment per level, scored by a published rubric and checked by human examiners.
How a live assessment works
Every level is one live assessment. The AI examiner conducts levels 1 to 3. Human panels join at levels 4 and 5, and the standards council decides level 6.
Live means four things:
- an identity check before the sitting begins;
- camera and screen on throughout;
- a sandbox in which the candidate does the work;
- an adaptive oral viva that follows up on what the candidate actually did.
The task bank is large enough that no two sittings are the same.
Scoring and double marking
Scoring is rubric-based and logged. Each month a sample of sittings is double-marked by human examiners, and the results of that sampling inform the rubric.
Published results
The institute publishes pass rates per strand and level, by provider tier, every quarter, beginning with the first cohort.
Integrity
Proctoring signals, plagiarism and agent-assistance detection in the sandbox, and randomised task selection protect every sitting. Misconduct is adjudicated under the strand 15 rules.
Retake rule
After an unsuccessful sitting there is a cooling period of 14 days before the next attempt at the same level.
Appeals
Any assessment result, and any decision about a provider, may be appealed within 30 days. The appeal is heard by a panel that did not take the original decision.
Free placement test
Before any paid sitting there is a free placement test. It recommends a level and nothing more: it awards no badge and creates no record on the register.
