Have a curriculum mapped to the spectrum and be listed on the public register of providers.

Five steps for a provider

The institute assesses curricula and certifies learners. It does not run courses and does not compete with providers.

  1. Register

Register online, pay the evaluation fee and upload the curriculum.

  2. Mapping

The institute maps every module to a strand and a level, with written reasons. You see the map and may contest it once.

  3. Outcome

Listed, Recognised or Accredited, or declined with reasons and a six-month window to reapply.

  4. Claims

You may state only what the map says. The institute publishes the map and your pass rates.

  5. Annual fee

Pay the annual fee. Accredited providers are also audited.

Claims and rejection

What may be claimed

A provider may state only what the map says, for example: prepares for level 2 in strands 1, 2 and 10. Anything beyond the map may not be claimed. A misstatement leads to delisting.

Rejection rule

A curriculum that maps to no level 2 outcome in any strand, or that teaches unsafe practice such as credential sharing or unlicensed data use, is declined with written reasons. The provider may reapply after six months.

Every provider is evaluated by the same published rubric, by staff with no interest in the provider. See the independence policy.
